butcher block countertop

Hi, I'm trying to stain and waterproof a butcher block counter top. The first time I used WATCO Danish Oil to stain it, and then I applied MINWAX Wipe On Poly clear gloss for the shine and waterproof. After drying, I got white spots as showing in the picture. The second try, I use the same stain, and MINWAX Clear brushing Lacquer. I got the same white spots. What am I doing wrong?Name: IMG_1540.jpg

I don't know that you can use poly on top of oil, each is meant to be the top coat.

White or cloudy spots often indicate moisture in the wood although I would have expected that to show with the oil coat also. Like SS I've never heard of anyone applying poly over an oil finish [least ways not for the first few yrs]
