Quater Round for bathroom

Quater Round for bathroom

I currently have wood quarter round in my bathroom some of which gets wet and is rotting from the inside where water gets between it and the floor.
I am going to replace it with PVC quarter round but what should I use to seal it to the floor so that no water seeps underneath? I was thinking of putting a thin layer of silicone on the underside before I nail it to the base board. Is this a good idea or should I do something else?

Might help to know what material is on the floor. And base shoe generally looks better than quarter round.

Flooring is tile

Thanks for the reply. I will use base shoe and the flooring is tile.

Caulk the tile under the shoe before you put the new in while it is opened up.
