Granite counter tops don't shine

How do I make my granite counter tops shine?

None of the "standard" polishes at Lowes/Homey Depot, etc. have much of an effect. And whatever gloss they can provide doesn't last.

Black counters with shiny "metalflake" appearance. About ten years old. Not abused.

Thanks

Did your counters ever have a high gloss shine? If not then you may need to polish the stone. This can be done with progressively finer abrasives until you reach the luster you want. Power tools will help a lot but it can be done by hand if you want to count it as exercise and don't mind hours of mind numbing, repetitive rubbing.

Car wax, I apply that around the sink every now and then due to the hard water.
