Question about putting wood edge on laminate countertop
I am getting ready to make my 1st formica countertop. I plan on putting a wood edge on the front and side edges. My question is this.
From what I see MDF is best for the underlayment since it is so smooth for the formica. I am going to use a piece of solid wood for the edge. From what I have seen it is best to glue the edge wood to the counter base before putting the formica on and then routing a 45 after laminate is on.
Will the solid wood hold to the MDF secure enough if I glue it?
thanks

In a choice between using plywood for the countertop or MDF which would you choose considering that I will be gluing the solid wood piece to the e edge? I don't think I will need brads because I plan to clamp the edge piece on while the glue dries.
