Cooktop cutout alternative ideas

Hello,

This is my first post here. My basement is recently done being finished. I have a granite countertop. Initially, the plan was to add a 21" cooktop but turns out the city doesn't allow it. So, now we are months after completion but I have a cutout on my counter for the cooktop. I mean I could but the cooktop and leave it there but I don't want to do that, so I am looking for what to do with the cutout. What can I do to fill up that cutout hole? I was thinking of adding like a cutting board to cover it but not reasonable in my case- to find the right cut etc. I do want it to be flush with the counter if possible.

Please help! Thank you in advance.

You can buy butcher block material in various sizes. I would get a blank bigger than your cutout and cut it to fit the hole.

If it is a party room you could put a dry sink in there for ice and drinks. Drain to a bucket underneath.
