Kitchen backsplash installation

We finally picked out a backsplash tile! We've been looking at drywall for about a year and a half. The previous owners apparently had some sort of stained glass piece in front of the wall above the range. We would like to not cover the area up and run backsplash tile all of the way to the ceiling and install a copper colored range hood with a chimney that goes to the ceiling as well. There are some issues that were likely covered with the stained glass piece though and I'm not sure what to do with them.

Thanks for any ideas.

May be obvious to you but the question is?

Welcome to the forums!

Are you referring to the gap between the cabinets and the wall? If your tile isn't thick enough to hide the gap you can add molding. Same thing at the top.

Sorry I wasn't more clear. Yes, I'm not sure if the tile is thick enough to hide the gap all along the sides. Glad to hear that some simple molding along the edge isn't a crazy idea. I have no idea of what to do at the top with it being open on the sides above the cabinets and the ceiling being exposed to the different colored paint. I don't know what to do to make the top look finished.

I want to put something like this in, but you wouldn't even see the molding at the top of this as I don't have an area like the one on the website to attach the top to. It would be behind the trim.

I would say you just need to remove some trim around the face of that opening... (removing the flutes and the rosettes) add a thin 1/4" panel to completely recover the cabinets sides and top... and then retrim the face frame so that it hangs over your panel edges 1/8" or so.

Looks like you will need an electrician to relocate those receptacles.

So new surface to kind of box in the sides of the cabinets and make a flat surface under the trim on to top? Then I could attach the molding of the range hood chimney and see it under the cabinet face molding?
