Cupped Shower Threshold

We are having frameless shower doors installed. When the old ones were removed, we found mold along the length of the marble (or granite) shower threshold. The mold was growing under the frame.

Then we noticed that the threshold was cupped so that instead of letting water run off into the shower, it puddled in the middle along most of the threshold length. It dips maybe 1/4 inch.

I am thinking of cleaning the threshold and then leveling it with epoxy before the new shower enclosure is installed.

Does this sound like a reasonable repair? (Or does the threshold need to slightly tilt towards the shower so the water slides off? )

I would tint it.

Don't even know who to call to do this work for me, or if it's not worth it and should just replace the piece. People I've asked have no clue.

I would replace the threshold with one that is beveled on both sides so that it is crowned in the middle. Any countertop company that works with granite... or any tile layer could do this for you.

Re-grouting Bathroom shower stall

Hello, I have a shower that is about 8 years old. Some of the grout has small cracks (not many areas) but the bigger problem is some yellowing and some discoloring. Instead of trying to use those grout coloring products, I wanted to attempt re-grouting the entire thing and had some questions: Removing the grout: I'm assuming an oscillating tool would be best. Should I be doing something to protect the tile from any slips? The idea of taping each tile doesn't seem fun :) How much grout should be removed in order to allow for the new grout to adhere properly? And should I wait any amount of time with the grout removed before applying new grout? i.e. let the wall dry up really well. Is there a specific type of grout that should be used for this application? Last, is there a specific type of caulk to use in the corners and bottom? I read that silicone should not be used for those applications. Thanks all

flexible duct or periscope duct for Kitchen range hood?

I've got a kitchen range hood I'm installing over an electric range. the run for the duct will be very short -- perhaps 2' or less, and it's exiting right behind the range on an exterior wall. but the space is very tight and I can't go straight out. the hoods is a top vent with an 8" round exit. Can I use that 8" semi-rigid aluminum duct for this application, or alternatively use a short periscope style duct between the studs? I know these are 6" and I'd have to reduce, but again the run is very short. either would probably work, but I want to be sure they're acceptable for the application. thanks as always!
