Locking French Doors

I recently moved into a new construction home with a few french doors. The door knobs have locks but locking it does not lock the door as I can simply push the door open even with it locked. I want to know if this is normal. If not, how can the door be kept locked?

We aren't psychic, so we don't know what brand the doors are, what kind of handles you have, if your passive door is locked with the flush bolts, etc. Post pictures, a video, or a better description.

If these are Pella doors, you need to pull the handle UP in order to engage the 3 point lock.

This was a major duh moment for me. One door in each pair has an astragal latch at the top, therefore, once the astragal is locked, the other door can be closed with the knob lock latch and wahlah!

Yep, there should be a flush bolt at top and bottom.

Since these are interior doors, there is only a bolt at the top.
