Adhesive/primer for door and window flashing

I'm not sure if I'm starting this thread in the right place.

I'm installing an exterior door and need to install flashing around the door to waterproof it. The flashing I'm using requires a primer for proper adherence to the plywood under the siding. I'm having a hell of a time finding a spray adhesive primer that is sold in a local big box store. All online spray adhesive primers have an insane shipping cost. Is an adhesive primer the same as a normal spray adhesive? Could I use that instead? If not, do any of you reading this know of any spray adhesive primers that are sold in local big box stores?

Thank you for your time.

Welcome to the forums!

I would think the main thing is to seal the wood so the adhesive will work. Sometimes the adhesive can be used to seal the wood by applying a tack coat, letting it set and then reapplying BUT I'm not a siding or window guy so stay tuned as better advice should follow.

What brand of flashing tape are you using?
