How to remove windows from this kind of frame?

Hello,

What kind of frame is this (what is it called)?

I thought I could just push in the metal piece, because it does sound like there is a spring behind it and it does compress under force, but it is not so easy. The third image shows the compressed state. Any idea how to get this window out?

Thanks!

Those are called sideloads. You simply push the window to one side (left) until the right side is loose enough to tip into the room. Raise the window halfway. Grasp the top of the sash with your left hand and the bottom of the sash with your right hand. Brace your feet parallel with the window and either yank left or keep your arms straight and lean your weight back on your back foot. Either way the front of the sash (right side) will come free, then you can bring it into the room. Top sash is the same way. Bring it halfway down, then repeat.

Thanks, that worked! I was trying to pry the left side out, duh! Your method was much easier. Thanks again.
