Hello all. I am remodeling and adding closet with sliding mirror closet doors. Through info in this web site and youtube I think I understand the process. the main question I have is how to install the floor track if I am going to carpet the room. One carpet youtube indicated that similar to the base molding trim the floor track ideally should be raised 3/8 inch to allow for a nice tuck of the carpet. Given this info here is my plan. Rough opening should be the size of the doors i.e 60 x 80 the top track will be reassessed 3/4 to allow a 1 by 3 to hide the top track. the rough finished opening would include a 3/8 board on the floor that the bottom tack will attach too. The bottom board will be reassessed according to any set back specified by the door instructions. When time for carpet the tack strips nails will be bent over after the carpet is installed to keep from stepping on the strips next to the front of the door. Does this sound reasonable? anything I need to change? thanks for any replies.

We don't know where to start replacing the vinyl block window above the tub in our bathroom. A few years ago, we noticed moisture in one or two of the blocks. Now there are perhaps 5-6 of the blocks with moisture inside. (Window is approx 6 blocks wide and 6 blocks tall.) We have a red brick house and not enough extra bricks to fill in the window, but I would actually love to replace that large window with a small sliding window higher up--both to decrease the sun/heat in the bathroom and to allow some ventilation for when I'm using cleaning materials. But how big a job is that and who do we call? The only window ads I ever see are for companies that seem to specialize in replacing all the windows in your house. I'd be nervous about hiring a local handyman to do something this major. Appreciate any advice you can offer.
