Storm Door install in a 35 inch door opening?

Howdy everyone. Our front door opening is 34 3/4 inches wide. We are trying to avoid ordering a custom sized door due to cost. With that said, we are looking at a 34 inch door and then I would shim the sides. Would that work? According to the installation instructions, shimming is recommended but their little chart shows it for sizes up to something like 34 3/8 or so. I have also included a picture of the depth, but I don't think we will have a problem with that.

You need to take off that aluminum cladding and use a standard 36x80 storm door.

EDIT: Pulled off the flashing to find the door brick molding. You were right, measures right at 36 so we can do a 36 inch door no problem. Thank you!
