How to soften burlap drapes
I have a pair of burlap drapes that are quite stiff and don't hang very well. Is there any way to soften the fabric so it might fall better????

Are they washable? If so, you can wash in the gentle cycle on cold or hand wash and use some fabric softener.
If not, you could try hitting them with some steam from a garment steamer or an iron on a low heat.
Otherwise, you could try training them by putting them in folds and tying them with a band for several days to see if that helps with the hanging.

Thanks Shadeladie.....Unfortunately they are not washable. I will try your suggestions soon. I was also wondering if they could be sprayed with a fabric softener???

Are these new? Sometimes they won't hang right if the fabric was not cut or sewn square, burlap or otherwise.

I know they say not washable but I wonder if hand washing, then spreading them out on to dry would be okay.
I recently saw some advice to use hair conditioner as a way to soften / stretch stiff fabrics. Wonder if that might help. Would be real similar to fabric softener I imagine.
