Is there a proper way to vent a bathroom fan out a gable vent?
I have read it is acceptableto vent a bathroom exhaust fan out a gable vent, but I cannot find photos how this is done. Most actually show a dryer-type vent installed below a gable vent. This will not work for me. I don't want to have to drill through brick 2 stories up.
Isn't there an acceptable way to mount the vent hose to the back of the gable vent screen?

The typical method would be installing a second hole like you've seen.
Possibly someone passing thru will have a different idea.

Can a vent hose be attached to the inside of a gable vent... yes. Is it the proper way... no. The reason is air does not always blow out of a gable vent. Depending on the direction of the wind the air may be blowing in so an exhaust placed there can easily get blown right back into the attic.
The proper way has been mentioned. You can either go through the wall, soffit or roof.

I have seen it done. Usually on older homes as a retrofit. It isn't proper but it is better than just letting the vent fan dump directly into the attic. At least with the hose run up to the gable vent the humid air will make it outside sometimes.
