What kind of roof vent

I have to hook up 6 in vent to roof from hood above range top. I have roof vents being I think about 6 in already on the peak of the roof. There are about 6 or 7 of them around the two peaks of my roof. The vent comes up about 3-4 inch and is open on three side with a screen around the opening. Could I just put the exhaust from the range hood right into the 6 in roof vent.

You want a 6" roof cap vent with a damper. (Example)

They also make powered in line dampers if you would like to limit cold air that gets past the damper travelling back down the vent.

A 6" duct sounds like a fairly large exhaust fan. If capable of more than 400 cfm it may need a replacement air system and should spell that out in the instructions. More details on why/when that is needed if you would like.

Necessary to wrap exposed ductwork?

Hey all. We recently had our old gravity furnace replaced with a modern forced air heating system. Some of the ductwork, about 4 feet, runs exposed in a bonus room we have. It's currently wrapped with insulation. Is this totally needed or is this for efficiency? Unwrapping it would be strictly an aesthetic choice. But wanted to ask here if it's code to have it wrapped, or is it just a dumb thing to unwrap. I'm in CA and the ductwork is flush mount and square if any of that matters. Thank you.Read More

Increasing the duct size of my bathroom fan outlet?

I have a new bathroom fan that I'm installing that is 70 CFM. It will only be in the water closet part of the bathroom as the bathroom already has a larger 150 CFM fan in it. The 70 CFM fan has a 3 in. duct outlet. I was wanting to use insulated ducting to run to the outside of my house but can't find any locally and am not finding many options online either. Am I ok in using a 3 inch to 4 inch duct increaser to attach a 4 inch duct to my fan or would I be causing some issues with the air movement?
