Return air

Hi All, I am thinking of cutting a return air opening in wall for my AC so that I can remove the louvered door that is currently there hoping to cut down the noise, this is Fl. And AH is in a room off the living room ,the AH using a 20X20X1" filter, can I somehow use that size to figure what size to make the opening?

The size opening needs to be at least that big. Unfortunately you'll need to reframe to get a 20" wide opening between 16" OC studs unless you make the opening like 15" x 30"

No problem reframing , just wondering if using the filter size would be a good guide , I iI frame it larger anyway.
