Can I use the vent from a gas water heater for range hood

I will be replacing my gas. water heater with a tankless electric one. Can I use the vent from the old gas water heater for my range hood?

Doubtful. It is likely far too small for your vent hood.

Most water heater flue are about 4" while range vent hoods use 6" - 10". I would say you can not use it for a stove vent hood.

Usually the water heater flu is hooked into the furnace flue and that would be a definite no no.

As stated earlier a 4 inch is too small for a vent. A 4 inch has an area of 12.6 where as a 6 inch has an area of 28.3.
That is a big difference.

Water heater vents are b-vent which is double walled pipe, and the inside of the pipe is even smaller than the outside. Around here gas b-vent is usually 3".
