Black residue on clothes from washer

I have a Calypso washer. Lately I have noticed some black marks on a couple of items after the wash cycle. It looks like grease, but doesn't feel greasy. I've checked all around the inside of the washer, but can't find anything. Not sure where this stuff is coming from. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the wash plate support or the u-joint may have failed.
The only way to know for sure is to have the inner wash plate removed & inspect the drive components.

When you wipe the tub down with a white rag.... is there black residue on the rag ?
A model number would be helpful for your washer too.

model # needed there was a software update for this problem many years ago. If you still have a Calypso still working you have outlasted there life time.

Model # 110.2206.
No residue when I wipe it down. The black stains are just on a couple of of items.

I've had this machine for 15-years and up to now has kept on working.

Looks like you have a build up of dirt in washer. It's a big job to tear down and clean. Most likely you will need parts also. Almost sure a U Joint . Just looked up U Joint and it's no longer available from sears.
