Samsung French door refrigerator stopped making ice

Model # RF28JBEDBSR

Noticed about a week ago that the ice tray was empty, Googled the reset button and have done that several times. When I reset the ice maker it beeps and runs, then about 5 minutes later drops a trey of ice but dosent make any more after that. The filter isn't very old... Im out of ideas, and after 2 live chats with samsung support and a phone call I found out the warranty was up 2 months ago of course.... Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums ! Don't look for the Samsung to make a party worth of ice. If you get supper, you're good. Click on either the crushed or cubed button which will light up your screen. See if the ice maker is on or off. Using the reset button may run it through one cycle, but if the ice maker is off, then it won't make any more.

It's definitely not off, it's always made enough ice for us and kept full but now only makes one tray if I reset...

How does a refrigerator defrost feature work?

I typically empty & unplug my cottage fridge in late fall and then only use it if I bring enough groceries on winter visits to make it worthwhile. This past weekend I went to "open" my cottage for the season and when I turned the fridge on it didn't start. I fiddled with it a little before unplugging it and using an old Norge in the basement for the weekend. Sunday I pulled out the fridge and tested the compressor overload...seemed OK. Tested power to it and there was none. Pulled down the thermostat housing & checked that...got continuity there too. Still only a faint hum could be heard when the fridge was plugged in. I took a break and when I returned to it the thing was running and cold inside! I don't know much about the internals of a refrigerator but all I could come up with to explain this behavior was maybe the unit was unplugged at the start of a defrost cycle, which had to complete before the compressor could get power(?) Is that how it works? This is an old GE (TBF17PC) that maybe doesn't have an electronic control board. Do old units have a mechanical timer hidden somewhere?Read More

Bosch dishwasher is not washing- no water

Man, not a good week. I gotta another thread going regarding my fridge, but now it's my dishwasher. It's a Bosh SHX33A05UC/21. I hear humming, somethings working, but there is no water. When I manually pour water into it, it will drain, but no water. From my research, it could be the water inlet valve or the float switch. Is there anything else you guys can think of?
