Washing Machine Inlet Valve
I have a Whirlpool portable washing machine. It seems like it's been filling slowly for a while, 30-40 minutes for a large load. Lately it's been shutting off completely before it fills with water. Often during each cycle. I can restart the machine, but I'm essentially running it manually if it shuts down in the second cycle, seeing as how the machine starts from the beginning.
From what I understand, the slow filling water and shutting off are symptoms of the inlet valve problem.
Being a portable washer, everything comes through one hose in the cold inlet. For the first time I tried hooking the hose up to the hot inlet, which I never used before. A large load filled in about 10 minutes. If the filters check out, is there any reason to suspect anything other than the inlet valve?

First thing to check is the filter in the inlet valve. Take a small screwdriver and pry out screen. I find them clogged quite frequently. Pretty common problem. Clean screen and replace it. Do not leave it out.
