In door ice maker not working

I have a Samsung side by side fridge (RG257 line) that is about 4 years old with an in the door ice maker. It stopped producing ice. Before ordering a new ice maker assembly, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Things I tried:

-Checked ice maker "button" was on.
-Reset ice maker using test button
-Checked freezer temp
-Water flow from in door water is good
-Used a hair dryer on the water outlet and on the mold (careful to not melt anything)

I hit it with the hair dryer a little longer this morning and it started making ice. Not sure what caused it to freeze up after 4 years. Maybe the positioning of food. If it happens again I might bump up the temp a couple degrees in the freezer.

Interesting. I'm not real familiar with the Samsung ice makers but I'm not aware of a freeze up problem. Some of the domestic brands are very prone to that problem.

Post the full model of the fridge and I'll dig deeper in the Samsung tech files.

It is the RSG257AARS.

Good fridge overall. Rare to get 24+ cu ft in a counter depth.

Good to hear. Thanks for the model number. I'll look it up when I get back to my shop.
