Maytag Performa washing machine wont agitate
I have a Maytag Performa washing mashine (model PAV3200AWW), bought it in 2000.
The problem is, in the wash cycle, it spins instead of agitating. It doesn't quite spin as fast as the spin cycle, but it doesn't go back and forth like it usually does in the wash cycle. Usually this causes the water to spin out of the tub and end up on the floor.
Not sure if I am going to fix it or buy a new one. Any ideas as far as what could be wrong?

Lean washer back against wall. Leave front off, turn center pulley both directions. One direction the tub should lift a little. It sounds like it is not lowering on the brake. The plastic center cap needs grease and it should get between the 2 plastic gears there. The lifting ramp in in there. You might need part # 24 under transmission.

Part is hard to install. Don't spend a lot of money on that washer.
