Older Maytag washer spins but won't agitate

I have a very old Maytag Washer (Model L4512). The washer fills with water, spins and drains but the agitator does not spin (effective yesterday). I can manually spin the agitator easily. Any suggestions? Any additional information I can provide that would help? Thank you.

Welcome to the forums.

Sorry. I don't recognize that model number and can't find it listed anywhere. It looks to be a partial.
Most washers have their model number on an ID plate at the bottom and just behind the lid.

Is there a way to show an image / picture of the ID Plate on this forum? I don't see a way of attaching a picture? When I cut and pasted the image I get an error that my message is too long.

You most likely have a brake assy problem or transmission problem. Brake assy is 105.00 $ and requires a special tool to work on. Transmission is NLA at site I checked might still be someplace else. That is at least 25 years old. Was a good washer but out lived it's life span.
