frigidaire upright freezer
about 11 years old - control on upper left of door - red light on by "Hi Temp, door ajar" just below is 4 as temp control with arrows for up and down - with reset control just below - problem started when lost electricity two days ago for several hours (emergency generator kicked in) foods still frozen except for some sausages softened on top shelf. Exterior of door at top is cold. Cannot reset, red light remains on although numbers can be adjusted up or down. Fan or motor seems to run continuously.
Any ideas to adjust or repair?

Welcome to the forums.
What fan or motor runs continuously ?
I would pull the plug out..... wait for one minute and plug it back in to see if it resets.
Otherwise I'll need a model number to help you further.

Thanks for your reply
I did disconnect for a minute but red light upper left on outside of door next to Hi Temp went on as before. I put thermometer on top shelf for a day and it reads 29 degrees. Contents remain frozen but temperature does not rise even when the number to do so is increased.
Freezer model # is 2FFU14F5HWC.
i"d appreciate any suggestions.

29f is not cold enough for a freezer. It should be down in the 5f-10f range.
Please check that model number. I couldn't find anything close to it.

That's better. Does it seem like the compressor is always running non stop ?
We need to troubleshoot the cooling issue.
From the manual.......
When the freezer is initially plugged in, the red "HI TEMP" indicator will be on and the buzzer will sound. The indicator light will stay on until the freezer temperature is below 23°R To silence the buzzer, press the ALARM RESET button. If a malfunction causes the temperature inside the freezer to rise above 23°K the "HI TEMP" light will turn on and the buzzer will sound. The buzzer will sound every hour until the freezer temperature is below
23°R To silence the buzzer, press the ALARM RESET button.

It seems like the compressor runs continuously. The alarm sounded yesterday, reset pressed and alarm went off; temperature control then set to #6. Today the temp in the middle the refrigerator now is 28 degrees. Hi temp red light still on.
Thanks JMD
