Age of this Maytag Washer?

Believe me I tried to keep it running for another decade, but parts availability has declined. Anyone know how old this unit was?

Maytag A412 Serial 276659PR Series 2 Newton, Iowa.

It appears your A412 Maytag washer was built in the mid-1980s.

It looks like parts are still readily available for it.

Dryer Vent duct - ok to use rigid pipe?

I have a rental with a section of dryer vent duct that is exposed. As such the flexible accordion ducting can get damaged/crushed/etc if someone pushes things up against it.. The entire duct run spans approx 8 feet, going from my dryer to the exterior wall. It's sitting on the concrete lip of my garage which sits a few inches above the garage floor.. There are a couple of metal straps to help suspend the duct work. There is about a 3 foot section that is exposed that can get damaged more easily. The rest of the duct is at the back of the dryer and behind a large freestanding storage closet. My thought was to use some of the more rigid 4" metal duct in this 3 foot section that is prone to damage.. Is this suitable for venting a dryer? Small white granules under fridge water dispenser

Hoping someone can give me some insight. I have a new LG refrigerator with a water dispenser. I find these little white specks at the bottom of the dispenser (the "platform"). The most obvious explanation is that water drips from the dispenser and leaves lime deposits. However, (1) This never occurred on the stainless steel refrigerator prior to this one. Probably because the water in our area is super, super soft. There is little or no calcium/magnesium in our water. (2) It occurs even if the water dispenser is not used. There are just these little white specks with no sign of water droplets that dried and left a calcium deposit. If I clean that surface, there may be 2-3 days where no discharge is visible. Then, I'll find some of this white discharge--it may be a few granules, it may be a larger deposit--even though the water dispenser has not been used and there are no water droplets. LG maintains that it is the water, it's "normal," and they refuse to send a technician to check it out. From my perspective, if it occurs with this refrigerator but not with the last one, it's not normal. Moreover, if there is some chance that there is some kind of debris in the water line (vs. naturally occurring calcium), then that water is not safe to drink. Any thoughts? Read More
