Doorbell replaced

The old doorbell has a transformer as part of the unit. The new one said it needs low voltage one, so I purchased. When I looked at instructions, it said to connect different color wires. The only wires coming out of my box are white but have inner red wires. Could it be there is a transformer behind this electrical box?

There are no standard colors on the low voltage so that instruction can be taken with a grain of salt.

The transformer you bought needs to be hard wired to 120 volts. What were you plans for that assuming you need a transformer.
