Area in front of panel
When we had our water softener installed the brine tank was put almost directly in front of our electric panel. I was able to wire all my new circuits into the panel without any problems as this tank is only about waste high and slightly to the right so it is not exactly blocking access, however I have my rough electric inspection tomorrow and am worried the inspector will want it moved.... even though I never put it there. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Waste high? How often do you get rid of your waste?
The space in front of an electrical panel must be a minimum of 36 inches wide (not necessarily centered) and 36 inches deep. In Washington state the required depth is 48 inches to accommodate our larger waists.

consider the area the size of a refridgerator from floor to ceiling, nothing can be in the space above that is not electrically related, it should be the installer responsibility to make it right,I'll bet that was the place that took the least amount of work for him to install it.
