Pros, In Use Covers?

I know in use covers are required for 120 volt receptacles outside but what about receptacles such as a 6-50? Do they even make an in use cover for a 4x4 box? Are there WR 6-50 receptacles? This question came to mind when answering http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...ric-meter.html.

I don't know if there are any WP covers for such. Note, the nomenclature is WR, which means it should be in an enclosure that is weather proof, or at least kept from the weather somewhat. It is a good point, however.

Yes.... the HUBBELL HBL9420 is a WP cover for a 6-50R receptacle in a single gang box.
I'm not aware of an "in use" cover for that receptacle.

Which outlet to use on old non grounded wiring

Hey guys, live in an old house (1953), some of it is new wiring, some old and ungrounded 2 prong outlets. I want to update the bedrooms to 3 prongs, I understand the wiring will still be ungrounded. One outlet will have a T.V. and cable box plugged in and the rest will just be used for phone charging. I "updated" my old 2 prong in my living room over a year ago, the guy at home depot suggested I use a surge protector outlet, so thats what I installed, the boxes they sit in are metal so he gave me some wire to screw in the ground wire to the box (don't know if it accomplishes anything). But I have never had any problems with it since it's been installed. I have a power strip plugged into it with a ps4, 55 inch tv, router, and cable box all plugged in. I dont care if for some reason something happens and I lose my electronics, but I do care about being electrocuted or starting a fire. I guess my question is should I use a GFCI outlet or a Surge outlet? Should I switch the Surge outlet I'm using in my living room to a GFCI or just leave it?Read More
