Wiring Chimney Range Hood

We removed an over the range microwave that was powered by an outlet. We are installing a Frigidaire chimney range hood in its place. The range hood only has instructions to hard wire, no suggestions for a plug.

I attached pictures of the current outlet.

What is the best wire to wire the range hood into this outlet or can I purchase an an appliance power cord and just wire it into the range hood and plug it in?

You can connect a 3-prong appliance cord, such as used on disposers and dishwashers. You need a 3/8" NM strain relief clamp and you need to drill a hole in the upper cabinet large enough for the plug to pass through when installing.

The instructions aren't showing you how to hard-wire, they are showing you how to connect wires to the unit, whether house wires or cord wires. Hot to Black, Neutral to White, and the ground is attached to the ground screw of the hood.

On an appliance cord, the wire with ribbed insulation is the neutral.
