Question Can I use lampcord?

I have this thing:
https://www.amazon.com/Glentronics-I.../dp/B000JOK11K

The instructions say you can splice wire up to 100 ft.

Anyway, I want splice wire to go from my unfinished basement into the first floor.

Being an unfinished basement, do I still have to use CL2, CM, CMR or CMP wire just to penetrate the floor up into the first floor?

Being battery powered you can use any low volt wire. I assume the wire is 22 or 24 AWG.

Lamp cord is not class 2 and therefore should not be run in walls. Best would be thermostat cable. It is class 2 and can be run in walls. Example: Southwire 100 ft. 18/2 Brown Solid CU Thermostat Wire-64162141 - The Home Depot
