Screwed into cable by mistake
Screwed into this electric cable by mistake as it was close to drywall.
I can see a copper wire inside - assume it's the ground but not sure.
Can I just tape it with electrical tape?

I cut the sheath off to have a look. The black had some exposed copper so I pulled the 3 wires apart, put electrical tape around the live, then tape over all three again.
is that ok?

Make sure there are enough copper left on the wires. When the live wires are shorted, usually some copper melts away. This makes the wire thinner at that point, thus higher electrical resistance. This can lead to over heating at the point.
I will not worry if most of the copper is intact, but if it has melted 1/3 or more of the wire, I'd cut and splice new section.

Didn't look like the copper was damaged, just the black cover.
If splicing, you need a junction box installed there?
