Running wire from wall to entertainment center

Hi. Not sure in which forum this question belongs.

I have a large entertainment center that stands 6 inches from the wall. I found some LED lights that can only be dimmed by a wall dimmer. Is it permissable to run BX (armor) from a wall plate to a work box mounted to the back of the entertainment center? I would the run the lights into the work box and have a wall dimmer to control the lights.

Many thanks for any responses.

No,but you could put a receptacle in that box then install your other box to the back of the Ecenter and using a piece of SJO cord with proper connectors and male cord cap plug it into your new receptacle .

Thank you for your response. So if I understand your suggestion, the SJO cord is an alternative to the armor, correct? The end configuration would be: wall dimmer to receptacle, SJO with male cord cap plugged into the receptacle, other end of the SJO terminates in a work box, lighting joins SJO feed in work box. Correct?

A standard receptacle cannot be dimmed. The dimming would need to be closer to the lights.

You can't have the dimmer for the receptacle, install the receptacle, cord from new box would have a male cap on one end that would plug into that receptacle, feed for lights would come into new box along with the dimmer.
