Kitchen counter lights turn off after a few mins sometimes

I have some kitchen counter lights installed on the underside of wood cupboards.
they are controlled by a wall switch but sometimes they turn off after a few mins. I have to turn the switch off and back on for them to work. They stay on longer sometimes.
Halogen bulbs. Is there possibly an overheating sensor turning them off?

An overtemp sensor would be my first guess.

Either it's overheating &/or a loose wire.

You have a thermal couple going bad. Change the lights to LED.

I used to have halogen under cabinet lights. The intense heat eventually broke down the sockets and they would intermittently start and stop working. I got tired of replacing the pucks when they got flakey so I switched over to a continuous LED tape strip. The light is much more even and it uses 1/4 the power.
