How do you put 2 receptacles in a 4-11/16" box

So the problem I have is, the "deep" 4" box HD sells is not very big if I have 2 receptacles in it (one GFCI) and I am also using the box as the LINE for other receptacles. So say if I have 3 wires going in/out and the 2 receptacles, it gets very packed in there.

HD has this oversized 4-11/16" box but the problem is they dont have a cover that you can put 2 receptacles (GFCI and regular, so the rectangle ones).

All they have is cover is this one: https://www.homedepot.com/p/RACO-4-1...FWW4swod4uoD7g

The box I am talking about is: https://www.homedepot.com/p/RACO-4-1...65SP/204958539

The question is, how do you use that cover with the blank middle with 2 receptacles? What goes in the middle?

And this is not an issue about HD being out of stock for other types of covers, that cover is the only one any store around me carries (and I have been to all of them).

Because of this, I am always finding myself using 4" boxes (they do have the deep ones which I use, but I'd still like the 4-11/16" one).

That is not a cover. It is a trim ring that holds the devices. A separate cover plate goes over the trim ring. What I think you want is a raised cover that holds the devices.

That's a two gang mud ring. It's set up for two devices and then you use a double metal decora plate.

Yes but the problem is I install all of these on surfaces raised, not recessed. So this stuff is on my ceiling or joists, etc. I guess I could use that cover on it but it would look really ugly because other plate is raised. So there would be a 1/4" of space between the actual box and the plate.

pcboss' link is what I need but it's $16 a piece?!?!?! that's 3 times the cost of the box itself!

Check an electrical supply house. It should not cost that much.

Get this box
https://www.homedepot.com/p/4-in-Squ...8232/100578083

and this cover
https://www.homedepot.com/p/4-in-Squ...809U/204486936

If the box is still too small, get a extension ring or look for deeper box.

Comes with adapters to configure it anyway you want.

Every box I used is that 4” box but its not big enough sometimes. And I do get the “deep” version, there are teo of them.

I use these boxes for dual gfci receptacles which works fone unless the box splits the line for other boxes then it gets very tight in there.

Use this to increase box capacity. For some reason I can only find whole case on home depot website, but I'm sure they have single items in store.

4 11/16" covers are available but expensive if your supply house doesn't stock them.
