How to install this exterior light?

I bought a motion activated LED light. The existing box is a surface mounted rectangular box, so I bought a 4" round weatherproof box.
Unfortunately the new light is 4.5" diameter, so it doesn't fit the 4" box. I haven't found any 4.5" boxes.

The installation instructions are included. They assumed it would be mounted on a recessed rectangular box,

I thought of just removing the three pieces from the new light and installing them on the old rectangular box cover; but they would be pretty crowded, and I would have to cut the connections between the three parts to do that.

The new cover will slip over the 4" box. With enough caulk it will be reasonable waterproof.

So, do I just return the sucker?

Avoid the hassle and do it the proper way, return the light and get something that works with your setup.

Most fixtures that come with a round plate will fit a standard 4" surface WP box.
You can separate the components and use a different plate or just get the kit with the 4" plate.
