Wiring a compressor for a science project
Hi - My son would like to build a vacuum chamber for a science project. We found this instructional video on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv0ECOX0JSM), and were lucky enough to find a junked dehumidifier with a scroll compressor (see photo attached) almost identical to the one in the video. However, I'm not sure how to wire it to the replacement cord. Any good suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff
Thanks,

Welcome to the forums.
You needed a compressor with the starting relay and capacitor attached.
The parts needed to start this compressor are on the humidifier control board.
You can try posting the compressor part number.

Thanks very much Pete. I actually still have the rest of the parts, including what I gather is the capacitor (a metal cylinder with two two blue wires and one yellow wire attached). I'll get the compressor part number and post it when I get home tonight (the dehumidifier is a GE ADEL50LRL2).

I found a video that showed me exactly what I needed to do. Here it is for future reference:
