How to connect this timer switch

The instruction manual talks about 3 wires. The switch I'm replacing only has 2, both of which are black.

Follow the two wires back into the box. They should go into cables with a white wire. There's a good chance that the two white wires from those two black wires are tied together. That would be the neutral connection you need for your timer.

Yes the black wires are capped off with both black and a white wire. It's a mess of wires. I will have to have an electrician deal with this then. I don't want to have to unscrew these caps to get this connected. Hopefully I can find someone who charges less than $150 in LA.
