Electric Stovetop -- Power outage

My electric stovetop is not functioning since power outage/surges yesterday due to thunderstorms.

The cooktop light turns on and it warms up a bit but not fully.

I have RESET the main circuit breaker couple times to no avail.

Please advise

You may have lost one of the two hot legs coming into the panel. Do you have other things in the house that do not work? Are any of your neighbors having the same issue? Have you called the power company ?

Everything else works fine.
no I haven't called power company or any neighbor yet.
Only one thing is there is a light which is flickering.

Thank You! Thank You! for your guidance. Yes, it was power company. They came out and repaired it. I am back to normal. I would not have thought of it on my own.

GFCI replacement issue...possibly

I recently replaced an old exterior light fixture. It was functional, just out dated. After I completed the install, I switched the breaker back on and had no power. Took the fixture back down to inspect wiring and all looked fine. I check the other outlets on the run and found a GFCI out in the middle (2 additional outlets after GFCI). It was old looking and some black around the holes, so I decided to replace it. In order not to be without power to the run because I couldn't get a new outlet for another day, I connected the neutrals and hots accordingly to complete the circuit and had power back, minus the "bad" GFCI outlet. After installing the new GFCI outlet, the breaker trips immediately and there is a red light on the outlet. I reviewed the LINE and LOAD and all is correct. Now I'm not sure if the GFCI was bad in the first place. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks, EricRead More

new outdoor outlet

I would like to add a new outdoor outlet. I was thinking about using an existing outlet that is on the inside wall, drill from bottom of that box through exterior of house then add a metal box. Does this seem feasible or would I need to run a new line to it instead from the panel? The outdoor box I am thinking of using.
