Can recessed light be used like an access panel?
I'm removing a wall during kitchen remodel and I have to reroute a cable for kitchen outlet. However, this cable is too short and pulling new cable will require opening a wall that I don't plan on touching.
Extending existing cable will require a junction box in the ceiling.
There will be recessed lights installed in the kitchen ceiling and I wonder if I can install a junction box inside ceiling next to the recessed light be still meet the code.
Since recessed light can can be removed, the junction box will be accessible when the can is removed.

It will depend on the inspector. Some will let it fly while others will not. Another option would be to use the recessed can junction box to make your splice. Just do not go over the fill capacity of the can box.

Seems like many other people had same idea.
Is that allowed? For some reason I thought that is not allowed since it is part of the light.
