Test a rocker switch

I have a large rocker switch on a bandsaw, removed. I put an ohm meter on the lower contacts with the on switch on. I get movement with the needle. I get nothing on the upper contacts in any scenario. I the switch bad?

Assuming you are testing the correct contacts then yes the switch is bad. Closing the switch should cause the needle on your meter to go all the way right. Opening the switch should cause the needle to go back to the left.

Welcome to the forums.

If there are four contacts on that switch then it needs to be checked in a certain way.
That may be a two pole switch with two sets of switches.
A picture would clarify the type. How-to-insert-pictures
