Heater Replacement

Hello everyone, I need to replace the heater in my utility room and am unsure how to get the old wall box out so thought I'd ask the group here.

It's nailed to studs in four places and the nail head heads are pretty much flush. I thought about using an oscillating tool to cut access slots (on vertical yellow line in picture) and then insert the tool further to cut the nails.

Thoughts and ideas are welcome. :-)

TIA

I use a wrecking bar or cat's paw to remove those nails. Both available at home improvement stores.

Just to get the head up for the more powerful tools you can try driving a tack puller under it first.

Or just run a Sawzall down between the stud and box.

Thanks guys. I was a little hesitant to do much hammer pounding for fear of how an overhead window would react but I'll try some tapping with my wonderbar and see how it goes.

The Cat's Paw shown in PJ's post is easiest to use to get under the nail head to lift the nail out.
