Light switch and Lighting near tub and future Shower Area

Hi, all.

We recently bought a home that has a master bath with jacuzzi-type tub but no shower. This is driving my wife crazy. I want to add a shower and understand that there are conversion kits that let me switch faucet to one with shower extension.

But the electrical has me worried.

First, even though the tub has an on/off switch, it doesn't work--instead, they have power running to a light switch about 3-4 feet above tub. I don't know why.

Second, there is recessed lighting above the tub.

If I enclosed space for shower, I would basically have a light switch and recessed lighting inside shower. I get that light switch has to at least be relocated.

But isn't there risk in having recessed lighting above the shower, too? Does it need to be enclosed?

Thanks! I figured out how to solder pipe after a leak, but can't figure this one out!

The switch cannot be in the shower. Non-issue with the recessed.light above the shower as.long as you have a damp or set rated trim.
