Surge Protector on pool sub-panel
Hi we are in the process of building a pool in a our backyard. We are getting a sub-panel in the backyard. We already have SquareD surge protectors on our main panels.
Would you install an additional surge protector on sub-panel for the pool??
FYI: We are in central Florida so we get plenty of lightnings
Thanks!!

I don't think I'd put a surge suppressor on a pool sub panel.
If it's an inground pool it should have a complete network of metal or rebar that is bonded to the pump motor and sub panel.

Yes it is an inground and everything is bonded. I was just worried for the pool automation control panel.
Thanks for your advice.

If there is electronics, surge suppression is a good plan. Just a spinning metal wheel and a pump, then not needed.
