Wiring smoke detectors?

I have 6 smoke detectors and 1 smoke/CO detector, all wired together. I want to disconnect one smoke detector from the network. Presumably I can do that by just not connecting the yellow wire.
But will the rest of the network still work normally; and the disconnected unit still work normally, just not being part of the network (ie. it will go off, but not set the rest off, and not be turned on if another one goes on...)?

Correct. They will work as you are thinking.

The rest of the circuit will still communicate with each other.
The local detector will still operate normally.

There is a reason for interconnecting...... to let everyone know no matter where the smoke is.
Make sure you aren't creating a risk by not interconnecting that detector.

The interconnect should remain connected. You do not want a fire to only alert one unit and leave the occupants at risk.

Hi, just curious, why do you want to disconnect it?
