Solar Power PTO (permission to operate)
Hey group!
Just had my solar install completed yesterday.
While the inspector was checking the system out he turned it on, and left it on.
I asked if it was ok to do that and he said yes.
I let it run for a day and then turned it off, as I have not yet received permission to operate from the utility company. The meter showed it was feeding back to the grid, but the usage still went up which tells me at the very least that it isn't able to count my production.
I'm just not sure why the inspector would leave the system on..

It's rare for solar to cover the entire operating demand of a home based on the load.
Can't answer the question about the inspector. I wouldn't think he'd leave it running.

It made 56 kwh in about 8 hours, which is more than my typical daily usage in a 24 hr period.
Yeah, I'm thinking of mentioning it to the installer on tuesday and get their take on that.

Just thought I'd follow up on this..
Since I had daily notifications turned on right now for my energy usage and it was clear the meter wasn't running backwards I was curious what the next days report was going to be.
And yeah, it counted the power produced by the panels as power consumed, so it's good I turned them off when I did!
