Running more than 3 electrical wires together?

Is the code requirement for derating for more than 3 wires together only for conduit?
if I want to staple or strap circuit runs coming from the panel, how far apart do the wire runs need to be? There's only so much space on a joist.

Use something like the 3M stak-it.

Not familiar with Canadian codes, but here in the states you can staple those suckers as close to each other as possible. No issues/ dangers with derating. When drilling wood, you are only allowed 4 wires per hole. Back in the day, guys would drill up to the center 3rd of a joist and pack it. No more.
