Lightbulb can it be done?

if i stereo system uses a step down transformer can it be replaced with a battey.

i have a 2.1 pc speakers that use transformer to change 240v wall power and change it to 12 volt, could i add a 12v sla battery to it after the transformer with a switch to and from the battery and the transformer to make it portable or am i missing some understanding about the voltage or amps or what else.

ive wanted to get a portable bluetooth speaker that sounds good with good bass but without spending alot of money. at the time of typing this logitech 2.1 pc speakers are canny decent with subwoofers and sound quality and some of the better ones are loud without distortion.
some micro systems by sony and sharp sound better and im wanting to make one of them portable or even run in a caravan setting ie 12v sla battery array with solar panels to charge

i know about inverters but whats the point of 12v up to 240 then back down to 12v for some microsystems

from want-to-party
regards

Welcome to the forums.

The transformer converts 240vac to 12vac (or slightly higher) and then the AC voltage is converted to DC voltage on the radio board. The battery (DC) supply would need to be connected on the board and be isolated from the transformer. It is possible to be done.
