Hello everyone. I have an Ingersoll Rand SS3 3hp 60 Compressor that needs a new pump. After researching rebuilding the existing pum,p, it became apparent most of the parts are not available relative to a frozen pump requirements, and those that are are beyond expensive. So this left me with only a complete pump replacement, which after research, I found the pump is close to $400, which is almost as much as I paid for the whole compressor. So I saved up and was just ready to order it, but as luck would have it.. I came across this little jewel... for $119!! I could buy two and still save half the cost of the OEM pump..... I am concerned about the fact it says this pump will put out up to 155psi, where the OEM is 90psi. Is that a problem,? Or will the pressure limit switch take care of that? I'm not very knowledgeable on Compressors, but the SS3 OEM is only warranted for one year anyway, with the option of buying a second year. Seems to me, if this Husky will work, even it fried within a year, I'm still ahead of the game, no? Also, I'm on a fixed income, and the savings would help my monthly budget tremendously if this will work. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. ps. How do you ever noticed that sometimes things work exactly the opposite to how you think they do? I was planing some redwood yesterday and noticed the planer running slow and bogging down. I was getting a nice smooth surface, so while I thought that maybe the blades were getting dull, I didn’t think they would be really bad. I just figured that as usual I had bought a cheap tool and it couldn’t handle the task. I have a spare set of blades laying around, so I threw them in and fired up the planer once again. I was moderately surprised to see the increase in speed of cutting with the sharp blades, obviously the old ones were much duller than I thought they were. But the real surprise, and the point of this post, was to see a marked increase in the amount of tearout. Wouldn’t you expect to see more tear out with a dull blade than with a sharp one?
