A fair number of people have been happy with the models put out by D-Link, and they are aimed at the DIY market. You can get cheaper, but with video, I can say that cheap cameras generally produce sub-par images: Wi-Fi Cameras | D-Link

Pete, are you using a PC? I can't open it on my IPad, maybe I will try the link on another browser.

OK, yeah, it doesn't work on an IPad. I tried it in a computer with FF, and it works there.

Several years ago I was involved in setting up a hard-wired Lorex system. (https://www.lorextechnology.com/prom...FdKIfgodGBgI4g) and it worked well. It had remote viewing capability as long as the museum director didn't unplug the modem (

) and I could look at it in real time or review the recordings. The cameras were what I would call medium resolution, definitely better than the images seen on many surveillance systems on the TV news.
(I have no connection whatsoever to Lorex.)

I did get to the link, some neat stuff there, that DCS 930L looks interesting I may check it out, I was trying to determine if I get an alert when something comes into view, I believe it does.

What kind of dollars are you prepared to spend? That will determine the effectiveness and the quality of the camera. If all you need is a view and an alert of nearby motion then the under $100 units will do. But understand that the quality of the Internet will be your weakest link for both viewing and alerts.

Hi Geo,
The two most important things are camera quality, of which price is a pretty good indicator of quality, and internet quality (both of these were correctly stated below by Norm201 and MrRonFL).
In addition to DLink mentioned below, I would also recommend Eugenius brand. They have a nice wifi camera that allows access via a mobile app.
Again, just to re-iterate, it is always best to go with higher quality cameras (these typically are more expensive). IPs are great, but cheap IPs can be just as bad as cheap analogs.
Also, if you (or anyone else for that matter) is interested in learning a bit more about WIFI, CNET has a great article on WIFI connections and diagnosing WIFI problems: Diagnosing and addressing Wi-Fi signal quality problems - CNET
Hope that helps!
