Where to install glass break sensor?

I am installing an interlogix glass break sensor (http://bit.ly/2n1T1cd) on my vista 21ip and had a couple of questions.

1) Can this be mounted "as is" in the ceiling without an additional gang box?

2) with regards to the location of the sensor I am trying to cover two rooms with one sensor. Any best practices here?

It can cover a 25' radius so if it's in between the two rooms it will work.
Sensor location should be in direct line of sight of all glass to be protected.
It looks like it can be directly installed in the ceiling with a 1" hole and using the plastic shield.

Good info in their installation materials..... 5820A-W-Installation.pdf

Thanks for the info.

While I am planning on mounting it in my den, the kitchen adjacent to it has multiple windows/doors that I would like to protect as well, but the problem is that I can't mount this sensor in my kitchen.
